Smack his bitch up?

I’m angrier than a celebrity with no body guard right about now.  Why?  Because I, maybe like you, have seen the footage of what appears to be accomplished music mogul Sean “Diddy,” “P Diddy, “Puff Daddy” Colmes.  In this footage, Combs appears to, as some black people would likely say, smack his bitch up.

The incident in question reportedly took place on March 5, 2016 in a hotel.  In the footage, it looks like Combs beats the tar out of his then-girlfriend Cassie Ventura.  Why would he do such a thing?  Does it really matter?  A real man doesn’t put his hands on a woman in anger, unless in the few instances where such a thing is justified.

Combs allegedly beats the pulp out of Ventura while wearing nothing but for a towel around his waist.  After the purported beating, he then allegedly drags Ventura back to his hotel room.

So how long will it take for Combs to be arrested and prosecuted?  It won’t happen!  Why would he get away with such an awful thing?  The age-old problem of the statute of limitation.

In California, where the attack is said to have happened, the SOL for that sort of thing is one year.  The prosecutor’s office released a statement confirming that they’re aware of the incident, but stated that at this time, no prosecution will take place.

Legally, I have to write things like “allegedly” and “reportedly,” because even though he’s a public figure, one has to be careful about how one discusses something the person did.  Would he sue me for leaving out the weasel words?  No, because he’d have to sue every media outlet and tons of bloggers too.

I am a fan of Combs’ earlier works, and the man in the footage sure seems to be Combs.  The question, then, is why would he do this to his girlfriend, or any woman for that matter?  If Combs really did this, then only he knows the truth behind his alleged attack.

Combs was reportedly drunk at the time of the incident.

Combs and Ventura are said to have started dating when she was 19 and he was 37.  I will compliment him on that….way to go, man, you bagged a young one!

In the 1990’s, Combs was at the top of his game.  He had hit after hit, and he founded the massively successful Bad Boy Records and he introduced artists such as Biggie Smalls, Mary J. Blige, Usher and 112 to the world.

Combs finds himself in trouble after authorities raided his properties as part of a sex trafficking ring.  Is he guilty of that, too?  Under the law, he’s presumed innocent at this time.

No, a man should never hit a woman.  Sometimes, however, it’s a must.  I speak specifically of self defense.  If a woman is coming at a man aggressively, especially with a weapon, that man has a right to set aside the rule that a man never hits a woman in the name of protecting his life, property or safety.

As for Combs, it is unknown what impact this incident will have on his storied career.  Artists could decline to work with him and, worse yet, more women could come forward with similar accusations.  I say this because men who beat women typically beat more than one.
