Albany’s mayor, Dorcey Applyrs, sure enjoyed presenting herself to be superior to all, despite the fact that she’s black and therefore cannot be superior. When I briefly ran for the office of mayor last year before my health had other ideas, I promised to cut the city’s budget and reduce its expenses. Applyrs, on the other hand, seems intent on ruining Albany. She, by the way, sent a minion to my residence to harass me.
Now that Albany’s in a severe financial crisis, she’s claiming that she inherited the problem and that none of this was her fault, that she had no idea how bad things were. Problem is, she was the city’s auditor, meaning that she knew exactly what was happening. Things are so bad now that there are now talks of workforce reductions and potentially simply running out of money. This wouldn’t be happening had I become mayor.
The city’s summer programs are in danger and the city could even drain its savings accounts because of all the financial drama that is going on.
Now, to her credit, the mayor has publicly admitted that the city’s expenses will far outweigh its revenue streams, to the tune of over $22 million. What she’s not doing is holding herself accountable. As the auditor, she could have and should have taken action, but she chose not to do so. Now look what’s happening!
I am seriously enjoying watching her mayorship implode. I feed off her failures, of which there are many. Had the voters chosen that White candidate, I am sure that this would not be happening. Black people simply don’t know how to handle money. White people, on the other hand, so. We needed a White mayor and the voters failed the city.
It’s important to note that even in the face of crisis, numerous high-ranking people, including Applyrs herself, were conveniently given hefty raises. Yep, she approved her own raise knowing that the city is in meltdown mode. I sure as hell wouldn’t have pulled that stunt! In fact, I would have reduced my salary until such time the city is solvent. Not Applyrs!
You don’t have to be a financial expert to see that Albany is about to go bankrupt, or at least come very close to it. If Applyrs truly cares about her city, she will resign immediately. But since she wouldn’t know the right thing if it danced on her chicken and watermelon, here’s what she will make happen:
- She will immediately reduce her salary to $55,000. The deputy mayor’s salary should be cut to $40,000. If either of them don’t like that, then they can do the right thing and immediately resign, letting someone who actually cares about the city take over.
- She will immediately cut job positions that are wants, not needs.
- She will cease any matches that the city may make to its employees’ retirement accounts.
- She will slash budgets left and right. No department, including the police department, will be safe.
And that’s just for openers!
It will be amusing to see Applyrs fail, taking the entire city down with her. And believe me, she will having nothing but failure for her entire term if this is what’s happening four months in. Since she can’t be recalled, we should hope that Albany’s voters will see her for what and who she is and make sure that she doesn’t get a second term.
