Earlier this week, I discussed Albany’s new mayor, the scumbag called Dorcey Applyrs, and the fact that she gave herself a raise despite not being in office for even four months and despite the fact that Albany is in financial trouble to the tune of at least $15 million. Well, according to the Times Union, Albany’s newspaper of record, the problem goes deeper than that.
First of all, the actual dollar amount exceeds $37 million. And that’s not all! It at first appeared that she gave only herself a raise, when in fact several city officials saw their paychecks increase and, despite a supposed hiring freeze, new positions were created and those positions, and their salaries, have been filled even as Albany burns, at least financially.
Now, as many people know, I did enter the race for mayor but had to step down due to health reasons that would make finishing a term impossible. If I had won, I would absolutely not have given myself a raise. I would definitely not have given anyone else a raise. I would have also instituted a hiring freeze and I would have strictly enforced it. But then again, I have basic morals and decency. Applyrs does not.
I’m willing to bet that a White mayor wouldn’t have pulled these stunts. This is what happens when you put a black person into the city’s highest office.
To be fair, the Common Council somehow saw fit to approve all of the changes, so Applyrs is not the only scumbag in question in regards to this matter. I’m willing to bet that some money was thrown around to entice the council into throwing the city’s money around like so much confetti even as the city suffers.
There are some serious consequences ahead for Albany. Critical services may be scaled back or eliminated because of the shortfall. In the interest of full disclosure, had I won, I would have gutted the police department, DGS, the Parking Authority and any and all other departments, but I would have done so in a manner that would leave those services unaffected.
Applyrs started causing problems the moment that she took the oath. I told people that this would happen. I knew that she’s scum and I further knew that something like this would happen. I just didn’t know that it would happen quite this soon. One would think she would wait six months before killing the city and here she is doing it not even four months in.
I hate to tell I told you so. Oh, wait, actually, I love to tell you I told you so! Had a Crook been put into office, things would be a lot different. I would say that I intend to run the next time around, but that won’t be an option.
The only right thing for Applyrs to do here is to resign immediately. Let’s get a White mayor in, a mayor who can make good changes that are in the city’s best interests. Clearly, she has only her best interests in mind and that is not a good thing at all. Applyrs is handing out raises that are absolutely out of the city’s budget. That’s not the way that a responsible mayor should behave. But then again, there’s nothing decent about Applyrs is there? No, there isn’t.
See, Albany is in financial peril. We simply can’t afford to have Applyrs in office. While I can’t be the mayor, I can initiate an effort to hold a recall election and that is exactly what I intend to do. Stay tuned!
