Russia and the United States have always had an uneasy relationship, especially when they were known as the Soviet Union and especially during the Cold War. But things that are happening now might start getting spicy, sooner rather than later.
You see, Russia’s former president made some potentially incendiary remarks. They were so bad that President Donald Trump immediately moved two of our nuclear subs to “the appropriate regions,” according to him.
It appears that, for now, the subs are not actually near to Russia, but given that Trump has made this move, we have to know that Russia will answer back. Trump may decide to ramp things up from there, and before that, we have a war on our hands.
We’ve always known that this day would come and it appears that it is now here. Those of us who grew up during the Cold War know that both of our countries were in a position to launch nukes within minutes. In fact, there have been several close calls, including one in 1983 where a Soviet military commander saved the world.
So what remarks caused Trump’s decision?
On the Truth Social platform, Trump wrote the following. I am posting it as it was written even given the unnecessary capitalization:
“Based on the highly provocative statements of the Former President of Russia, Dmitry Medvedev … I have ordered two Nuclear Submarines to be positioned in the appropriate regions, just in case these foolish and inflammatory statements are more than just that.”
What did Medevev say? “Russia isn’t Israel or even Iran. Each new ultimatum is a threat and a step towards war.” He has his panties in a bunch over tariffs and other trivial matters that don’t warrant a war of any sort.
Hopefully, Medevev was just venting, because if he convinces President Vladimir Putin to take action, things will go sideways very quickly. I don’t think that Putin will launch his nukes, forcing us to retaliate in kind, at least not right away. No, I think Putin will make unwise moves that will result in a huge confrontation.
This is probably the point where preppers and survivalists are going to their bunkers, and that’s fine. They will survive the blast and the radiation by staying underground for weeks or months, but sooner or later, they will have to emerge and in short order, the living will envy the dead.
At this point, there’s nothing to do but sit back and wait. Russia’s former president has made a troubling statement that was likely meant as a veiled threat.
How will Russia respond to Trump’s latest move? How will we respond to their response? Things are about to escalate, and things will start popping sooner rather than later!
