Last week, The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, best known as the “Mormon” church, lost its longtime president Russell M. Nelson, who died at his Utah home on September 27th. In the article, I pointed out that Nelson’s replacement would be none other than Dallin H. Oaks, who served as Nelson’s counselor, best described as an assistant.
Well, it’s no surprise that I was right. Not because I’m so arrogant as to think that I can predict the future, but because the church’s longtime tradition dictates that the president of The Quorum of The Twelve Apostles takes over as the new president of the entire church and, its members falsely claim, prophet.
A few hours ago, following a meeting amongst the quorum this morning, the church published a tweet announcing the reorganization of the First Presidency and its attendant press conference.
At the appointed hour, just moments ago, Oaks, erroneously announced as Dallis Harris Oaks, was announced as the new president, the 18th in fact, and so-called “prophet.” Given the church’s wealth, including money that they knowingly “forgot” to disclose to the SEC, he should be called the profit.
Chosen as his counselors were President Henry B. Eyring and President D. Todd Christofferson. President Jeffrey R. Holland is now the president of The Quorum of The Twelve Apostles. What awful choices! Oaks should have done the right thing and stepped down. Eyring and Christofferson have no business being in the First Presidency. But then again, it looks like they were the lesser evils.
One of the longest apostolic interregnums in the church’s history (17 days!) has at last come to its end. The new First Presidency has its work cut out for it and I’m willing to bet that all three of them will hit the ground running, especially Oaks. You see, Oaks has been eagerly awaiting Nelson’s death so that he can undo the damage that Nelson did. I’m sure has many radical changes of his own. Just you wait and see!
Now it’s Oaks who is in the pilot’s seat. Will the church stay at cruising altitude or will it crash land?
In 2018, Oaks was promoted from the quorum to counselor to president of the quorum, an office that he returned to late last night immediately upon Nelson’s death. At that point, the First Presidency, the highest governing body of the church, dissolved and until today, there was no First Presidency and the quorum handled the church’s affairs while waiting for a president to be formally chosen.
When it came to new church leadership, everyone knew it would be Oaks, based on the fact that that this is the way that it’s been done for much of the church’s history. The church, like many large organizations, has an official way of doing things and everyone just had to wait to make it official.
Today’s announcement is of no surprise. Oaks, along with his freshly-minted counselors, can undo much of the damage that Nelson did. I never much cared for Oaks. He seems like a pompous dirtbag, but the one and only thing that I do like about him is his hard stance against LGBT freaks. It will be awesome to see if he makes it so LGBT people cannot join the church. I love to see him tear those perverts apart.
As of the time that this article was published, the webpages for the FP and the quorum were not updated, despite the fact that any good web content producer would be able to do so within seconds after the announcement, unless of course they were kept in the dark. I suspect, however, within the hour, those changes will be made.
Of course, a new FP photograph may not be taken right away and the same goes for the quorum. I’m curious to see how long it will take for the relevant pages to be updated and when new photographs will be published.
And here’s an interesting tidbit of information: under Utah law, the church is a corporation sole. This means that now that he’s president, Oaks, legally speaking, owns the church. If he were so inclined, he could take over all of the church’s bank accounts and retire in Hawaii. Of course, that wouldn’t happen, but on paper, he owns the church. If you don’t believe me, check out what AI states and then check out the other resources.
What’s scary is that Elder David A. Bednar, a jackass with whom I had a confrontation, is now third in line for the church presidency, meaning that there’s a good chance that he will become the profit within the next 15 years or so. When Oaks dies, no matter when that happens, Holland will next take over, assuming that he lives that long, and he already looks like a dead man walking, so he may not last much longer.
When Holland passes on, then it’s Elder Dieter F. Uchtdorf, who served in the FP under President Thomas S. Monson. Oaks demoted him though. That had to hurt!
When Uchtdorf takes a dirt nap, Bednar will get what he’s been waiting for for all these many years: the church’s top position! The arrogant windbag that he is, he must be seething because he was passed over for the presidency.
Oaks has even more power than he did before Nelson died. Let’s see what he does with it.
