How did it happen?

My regular readers know that I have no tolerance for illegals.  It definitely enrages me when companies hire illegals, especially in 2025.  When I ran my own business, I used a federal database that all employers are allowed to check when ensuring that the person they’re hiring is a US citizen, or at the very least that the person has the legal right to work here.

Now, if I as a small business owner with six users can adhere to that law, then larger employers can certainly do the same.  Why, then, did the Des Moines Public Schools district fail to ensure that their superintendent is legal?  Spoiler alert: they didn’t and he’s an illegal with a violent criminal past.

Yes, one Ian Andre Roberts was somehow able to work at numerous school districts all around the country prior to somehow gaining employment in Iowa.  He commanded a huge salary of over $300,000.  That all came crashing down around him when a fugitive arrest warrant was issued against him as a result of him running like a coward from ICE.

Thankfully, he was caught yesterday and he was allegedly caught with a loaded weapon (a violent crime) and cash.  Just as thankfully, he was arrested and is now being detained with an eye towards prison and then deportation.  Prison, after all, is where all illegals belong.

Originally from Guyana, Roberts was under a deportation order, meaning that every day he woke up in our country, he was here illegally.  So the school district somehow managed to hire an illegal who was ordered to leave our country.  Again, if I was able to check the federal database that all employers must check, then how was this able to happen at a school district?

What we have here is felony conduct on the part of an illegal who blatantly ordered a lawful order to deport himself.  Well, now he’s got some issues, doesn’t he?  Hopefully, those issues will involve a lengthy prison sentence and then deportation.

How did he get here anyway?  He entered our otherwise fine country in 1999 on a student visa.  How he was able to do so is beyond all comprehension.  In 2020, he was arrested for alleged weapons charges and those charges are pending even unto this day.  Just how was that able to occur?  Surely an arrest warrant would have and should have been issued.

He was able to secure jobs as a teacher, meaning that he was around young students while apparently illegally possessing weapons.  He became a principal and eventually an administrator.  He was the subject of numerous lawsuits and a lot of taxpayer money was spent on settling those lawsuits.

Not one school district that he worked for noticed that he was an illegal as there’s no proof that he was able to work here legally.  He should have been flagged, but no one noticed how dangerous he was and is.  Unfortunately, the people of Des Moines are rallying around him despite his criminal past and questionable legal status.

Thankfully, ICE is detaining him and he will not be going anywhere anytime soon.  This means that Iowa and the rest of the nation are a little bit safer tonight.  The fact that anyone is supporting him despite serious criminal charges that include allegations of illegal use of a weapon is beyond me.  It would appear that Iowa is not a safe place to be.

The students and parents of that school district should certainly be scared.  Clearly, the school district didn’t do what federal law commands them to do.  That should raise immediate safety concerns.  If he slipped through the cracks, then how many other of their employees is here illegally?  How many of them illegally own guns?
