As we all know by now, ABC late-night talk show host Jimmy Kimmel was yanked off the air on Wednesday because of hateful words that he spoke during Monday’s monologue. I’m not going to write an essay about that, but he called true patriots, true Americans, a “gang.” MAGA Americans are what America needs. And I am not part of a gang!
Things were going well. Kimmel was going to be silenced and shunned. But no, news emerged just moments ago that they will be allowing this scumbag to return to their airwaves tomorrow. This is beyond disrespectful and it is anti-American. Accusing people of being in a gang is serious business, and it looks as if Disney and ABC are both okay with their on-air personnel making awful accusations.
I have to be honest: I just knew that they would cave. The free speech whiners got their way this time, at least for now. But I am certain that true patriots such as myself will rise up and confront those businesses who advertise on their local ABC stations to let them know that they will be boycotted if they continue to air his show.
When advertisers get boycotted, they tend to cave, and that’s what needs to happen. When local stations experience an immediate loss of revenue, they will do the right thing and preempt his show. People with unpopular and disgusting opinions should be silenced. Kimmel should be silenced for calling me and others like me a part of a gang.
I grew up in Las Vegas, and accusing someone of being in a gang, especially in certain parts of the city, might get one shot. While we can’t shoot Kimmel (although I predict that some poor son of a bitch will make a stupid decision), we can let advertisers know that we mean business. I’ve prepared a list of business that advertise on my local ABC station and I am raring to practice what I preach.
Certain people should not have free speech, not when their opinions are wrong. Kimmel’s words are wrong. He deserves to have his right to free speech taken away for that.
Remember this: the right to free speech is not absolute. It’s never been about saying whatever you want, whenever you want. The original intent of the first amendment was to allow citizens to speak out about their government. They never intended it to be a free pass.
Charlie Kirk had his free speech. His opinions too were invalid, wrong and vile. He got his just desserts. Jimmy Kimmel has free speech, that’s true. But just as Kirk was held accountable, so too must Kimmel. Since they’re giving his megaphone back, there will have to be other ways of dealing with him, ways designed to take his job away from him permanently. He should not be allowed to speak in public ever again.
Yes, Kimmel is back. For now. It’s probably a contract issue. ABC realizes they might have violated some clause and they are probably just letting him walk the clock as his contract expires in a few months. They will almost certainly not renew his contract. If this is the case, then we need to be patient and let him have his precious freedom of speech, knowing that he will soon be shown the door once and for all.
Every station that continues to air Kimmel’s show should have FCC complaints filed against them in an effort to revoke their licenses. Both Kirk and Kimmel engaged in hate speech. Kirk’s gone, so we can’t hold him accountable. But Kimmel’s alive! The best way to deal with his wrong opinions to take away his platform.
I highly encourage you to contact local advertisers and let them know that their continued support of the show might just result in a boycott, protests and a serious and immediate decline in revenue. This is what true Americans do when someone expresses an incorrect opinion.
