PBS and NPR: Just crawl over and die!

President Donald Trump continues to hit it out of the park.  His goal of defunding both PBS and NPR has finally been realized, and, assuming that he signs what Congress has approved, then what a happy day it is!  Let’s face it: neither PBS nor NPR are useful anymore.  Neither outlet has anything to offer anymore except for political bias.

The New York Post agrees with me and others who feel as I do!  The sooner that they go off the air, the better.  When I worked in the broadcasting industry, I ran a TV station that occupied a building that once housed the city’s PBS station.

A lot of PBS remnants, including a library of shows, remained.  I treated that stuff in a manner that it deserved: it was all thrown in the dumpster and it was all ultimately taken to the dump, right where it belonged.

A few weeks later, someone from the station called and asked for their stuff back.  I told them they should have taken the garbage with them and I informed them that if they want to see their stuff, they should simply bring a truck to the landfill.  Man, oh man, were they upset.  But they ultimately realized that they were in the wrong.

When you move a TV station to a new building, you obviously take everything with you, including your library.  They didn’t get the memo.  My boss, the owner of the station, got a kick out of it all and stood by my decision.

Sure, I could have done the polite thing and called them to give them a timeframe in which to collect their garbage before I dispose of it, but where would the fun have been in that?

But that’s not really the point of this article.  The point is that ridding our nation of the trash that is NPR and PBS is going to be a good thing for all.

There are of course people who are crying foul.  Supposedly, some people’s lives will be ruined, including farmers who apparently rely on those outlets for critical news updates.  Well, those sorts of people will simply have to use this thing…and I know it’s crazy…the thing called the internet!  I hear that it’s all the rage.

There are parents who are whining that Sesame Street will die.  Well, no, no, it won’t.  Sadly, the show is one show that cannot seem to be killed.  And anyway, the franchise is owned by Disney now, not PBS, so when PBS finally signs off once and for all, the show, sadly, will soldier on.

Sure, both NPR and PBS can hold telethons, donation drives and so forth.  Sure, many people will donate.  But their generosity and stupidity will be for naught.  There’s no way that those methods of raising funds will save the broadcasters.  Yes, corporations will continue to donate, but none of those things will save them.

To be certain, neither PBS nor NPR are going anywhere for the time being.  But sooner or later, their defunding will catch up to them and once and for all, our nation will be free of their nonsense.

Sure, jobs will be lost, but surely most staffers are seeing the writing on the wall and are seeking employment elsewhere.  If they stay on the sinking ships knowing that the defunding will happen, that’s their burden to bear.

Sit back and enjoy the show.  When Trump officially seals their fate, it will be amusing to see both organizations die a well-deserved death!
