Trump doesn’t deserve this

President Donald Trump is a lightning rod for controversy and criticism, but not too many people want to hurt him for that.  Of course, last year, Thomas Matthew Crooks, tried to assassinate Trump but he himself got a bullet to the head.  And to be clear, my surname is Crook, not Crooks, which was his surname and, for that matter, the surname of a hardcore rapper.  And no, the Crook surname has nothing to do with theft.

Anyway, with that out of the way, Trump missed a bullet to the brain by less than an inch.  A lot of people want him dead, most of them Democrats.  Big surprise.  But almost none of them has the balls to play stupid games.  That is, of course, with the exception of former FBI director James Comey, at least in my opinion.

Comey is in big trouble for posting “8647” on social media, a post that he quickly took down.  Why was the post so problematic?  Because “86” is the code for eliminating or ending something.  And, of course, Trump is our 47th president.  So if you put them together, one might think that a poster wants to end Trump.

For his part, Comey has claimed that he had no idea that what he posted would be viewed as a death threat against Trump.  But he’s being taken seriously.  He was escorted out of his home by Secret Service agents who whisked him away to be quizzed about his intent.

The story goes that he voluntarily submitted to questioning but I submit that the fact that he was escorted away from his private residence means that his leaving might not have been so voluntary.

Thus far, as far as we know as of the time that this article was published, Comey has not been arrested and we don’t know if he’s in any form of custody other than in an interview room being submitted to aggressive questioning.

So what do Republicans think?  They want him dealt with.  As a Republican myself, I definitely want Comey to be held accountable regardless of intent.  “8647” is a serious code and I truly believe that he absolutely knew what he was doing when he posted that.

What does our president think?

“He knew exactly what that meant. A child knows what that meant. If you’re the FBI director and you don’t know what that meant, that meant assassination. And it says it loud and clear.”

Trump responded to questioning that was posed yesterday in an exclusive interview with Fox News Channel’s Bret Baier.

Trump is absolutely correct.  Even a fifth-grader would absolutely suspect that Comey meant his words to be taken seriously.  He’s trying to wiggle out of accountability by using weasel words.

Let this be a lesson to people who do not like Trump: be very careful with the words that you use, or you might find yourself in Comeys’ shoes.  It’s my belief that this was not a coincidence and he’s trying to backpedal.  Hopefully, he will be held accountable.
