I’m angrier than a dog without anyone to take it out to pee over the fact that the song I’m about to mention isn’t more popular than it is. See, I am Dutch going back many generations. My ancestral family hails from Amsterdam. So, it’s no wonder that I like Dutch music. I remember my grandmother playing it for me when I was young. For a long time, I was fan club president for a Dutch eurodance group that is no longer worthy of being named in this blog.
I ran across this snappy little number from 2021 recently and I thought I’d share it with you, the gentle reader. The song is by Dutch artist Johnny Verweij, and the song is Klompendans, which translated into English means “clog dance,” a traditional Dutch dance.”
That would be a beloved folk dance with origins in Amsterdam.
Spotify identifies him as being a “Dutch accordeon player.” Klompendans was, and still is, a big hit on TikTok, where people make absolute idiots out of themselves by coming up with what they think are cute dance routines. All they’re doing is casting a negative light on the song.
Anyway, I included the YouTube link so you can have a listen for yourself and decide whether or not it’s worth your while to pick it up on iTunes. Hint: it is.
