Here is yet another story for the “Stupid! You’re so stupid!” files. If you want to read other such stories, go to the stupid page already! Now, on to today’s stupidity. Sometimes, seeing people doing stupid things makes you laugh. So it is with this story. A group of people visiting Ohio posed for a photo showing their smiling faces. They’re not smiling anymore!
Jose Mario Pineda Dias, 33, Marina Suyapa Regalado, 28. The rest of the idiots have yet to be identified. They were all standing in the Scioto River. They were up to their thighs in that water. One of them apparently started struggling in the water as it flowed heavy with every passing second.
So here comes the stupid part. The guy (or gal) actually stayed in the water as it was obvious that things were quickly becoming more and more dangerous. The others went after that person and tried to rescue today’s stupid story. Not just one person, but all four! Four people thought it would be a good idea to jump into hostile waters!
I don’t know about you, but I know that jumping into that kind of danger is not wise. You’ll never rescue the person, because by that time, the situation will not end well. There’s no sense in saving someone if doing so will cause serious injury or death. Four grown adults thought it would be heroic to leap into waters that had already claimed the swimmer for its own.
To make matters worse, one couple had children. Despite that, they put themselves in harm’s way. Some may call that heroic, but sometimes you just have to choose your battles. That wasn’t heroism at all. That was Darwin. Had it been me on the shore, I would have assessed the situation and stand idle to preserve my life.
I guess some people just don’t have common sense.
