Do we really need them?

It used to be that we would come home from work and check the mail.  Like, physically check it.  It’s kind of like the days of yore, when the Sunday newspaper was twice as thick as during the week.  Now, the Sunday paper is as thin as an African boy who hasn’t eaten in a week.  Well, next year, it may very well be that there will be no one to deliver the mail.  But will that even matter?

Seriously, who uses USPS anymore?  I don’t.  The USPS could shut down tonight and I wouldn’t be affected in any way.  All my bills are sent electronically.  I do not need them the way I did when I got my first place.  I am not alone, which is why their revenue is to the point that they are in danger of shutting down.

Seriously…who mails anything anymore?  Everything is electronic these days.  When it comes to ordering physical objects, those things can be delivered via UPS or FedEx.  The postal service really isn’t providing any actual services anymore because what they call services are in all actuality useless.

I don’t really have any means of receiving physical mail.  I got rid of my mailbox ages ago, so there’s nowhere for the carrier to deliver it.  I figure if it’s important, it’ll arrive in my inbox or via UPS and FedEx.  If this were 1996, there’d be a need for physical mail, at least for me.  But this is 2026, and it’s time to get rid of the mail system.

I think it’s safe to say that things will get worse for USPS way before they get better.  That is as it should be.  Their existence is a waste of time and money.

Time to shut it down for good.
