A few days ago, I discussed Iran and, more specifically, Trump’s plan to attack it. I and most everyone else have since been hoping for some sort of miracle that would end his plan. Well, this morning, like many others, I woke up to numerous news alerts. It seems that Trump has gone ahead and authorized strikes, meaning that war has just begun.
Trump has state that the attacks make it so that Iranians can “topple” their leader. In fact, many Iranian citizens have made it clear, albeit anonymously, that they don’t want war and they don’t like their current leadership. We aren’t doing this alone though. The United States has teamed up with bully nation Israel.
In response, Iran has already retaliated by attacking US and Israeli assets in that region. Technically, then, one could argue that we are now in a state of war: World War III to be exact. Why? Because Iran has powerful allies, including Russia. One thing that we learned from the Cold War is that Russia can wipe us off the map with a push of a button or two. Does Trump really want that? His actions seem to say so.
Iran’s Supreme Leader is in trouble, because we and Israel want him dead or alive. This also seems to indicate that the USA has just declared war, although to be fair, Trump has not gathered Congress in an effort to declare an official war, possibly triggering NATO’s Article V. Speaking of Congress, some members are already speaking out against Trump’s unauthorized actions and more than a few are irate to say the least.
For those of you who aren’t American citizens and/or do not know how things work, I’ll make it quick and simple. Trump does not have the authority to declare war. Our Congress does, meaning that if we were to declare an official war against Iran, Trump would need to be in front of Congress right now, making his case for war. Congress, of course, would not authorize a war, which is likely why he is going ahead and doing whatever he wants, innocent lives be damned.
Trump has not even tried to seek approval from Congress, meaning that his actions are quite possibly unauthorized, especially given that Iran and its allies can cause quite a problem, leading to an official start to a third world war. Will things go that way? It’s not impossible, and it’s all because Trump may have knowingly and intentionally overstepped his authority.
Trump is not the only president who has avoided going to Congress, but that would be an entirely new article. He is not the first and, absent nuclear war, he will not be the last. Look, I am still glad that he is president. I am still glad that I voted for him. It’s possible to support someone while disagreeing with some of their actions. So it is here, at least with me.
Trump’s most recent actions could result in the deaths of many people, including our military. Israel’s too, but does anyone really care about such a hostile and evil country? I have to wonder if Trump stopped to think about the possibility of dead soldiers coming home in flag-draped coffins.
Trump has proven today that it is a suicide mission to join our military. Once someone signs on that dotted line, they have entrusted their very life to a president who clearly doesn’t care about whether or not the troops who he commands live or die. Therefore, I would say that it’s quite stupid to sign up these days.
I’ve said it before: it’s rarely been necessary for our country to get involved in wars. The only two legitimate wars, at least to me, were the Revolutionary War and The War of 1812. Both of those wars were needed in order to stop the British from taking over our country. On a side note, it’s appalling to me that our two nations are now allies. That shouldn’t be, but that’s another article for another day.
None of the other wars, and I do mean none of them, should have involved us. That means that we should not have stepped into the world wars and we should not have been involved in the Vietnam War, the Korean War, Iraq, Iran, Afghanistan and so forth and so on. Yes, I am saying that we should not have retaliated after the attacks of September 11, 2001. Revenge is not a good look.
This new conflict, a problem that we are faced with this morning, is not needed. Just like in the first two world wars, we should have not gotten involved. Now it’s too late, and things are quickly going to go south. Things can only escalate from here, especially since Trump is using our attacks as a tool to force Iran into entering into a nuclear agreement with us.
So let’s get this straight: in order to stop a potential war, we’re almost officially declaring a war? Please tell me that I am not the only one questioning the sanity of this mess! World War III has begun, just as I’ve stated numerous times. Many people think that our third world war will start with Russia nuking us. As we’re seeing right now, it’s going to start off small, escalating into something huge.
As you might imagine, the State Department is making it very clear on its website that we are to not travel to Iran “for any reason.” Well…duh. Any citizens who, for whatever reason, are still there, should immediately leave. That is, of course, if Iran even lets them out. Rather than doing that, Iran is likely going to use those people as prisoners of war or something similar.
Problems are already happening elsewhere. In Dubai, the sky is falling and people are being forced to run for cover as missiles explode above them. People are quickly finding out that weapons don’t care about how many zeroes are in their bank accounts. They are discovering that they are not immune to acts of war.
I have no sympathy for those Americans who went to Iran. They’re screwed and, if we’re being honest, they have only themselves to blame. No rational person would willingly go anywhere in the Middle East. Those who have gone there could very well pay for that decision with their lives and for that, they are not worthy of sympathy.
Earlier, I mentioned the fact that Iran has numerous allies. Those allies include Russia, the most powerful nuclear state in the world. And then there’s China and North Korea, two countries that can cause us great harm. Trump truly didn’t think this through! It’s definitely realistic to expect those countries to rise to Iran’s defense at any moment, making nuclear war a definite possibility, a greater possibility than existed during the Cold War.
It really does like Trump has started a world war. I don’t think that Iran is going to come to the negotiation table now. I hope that I’m wrong but it truly does seem that we are now at a state of war, and just like most of the other wars, we have no business engaging nor participating.
