Around here, when you have a vending machine in your break room, that machine is overseen by Prestige Vending. My workplace is no different. We recently moved to a much bigger building about a month ago, and that means that we got new vending machines as well. Problem is, one machine in particular failed.
Prestige succeeded in charging my card, but it failed to dispense product on two separate occasions. I tried to do the right thing and filed a request for a refund through the QR card on the machine. Today, they refused to honor that request despite knowing that their machine fouled up.
I consider that to be ripping me off. Granted, the total amount between two transactions is a mere $4.50, but that’s not the point. The point is principle, or in this case, the lack thereof. I never had a problem with any of the three machines at our old building. The other two machines in the break room in the new building have given me no grief. This one machine, however, apparently decided that ripping Michael Crook off is a good idea.
It is not.
Given that they went out of their way to deny me, I will handle things the Michael Crook way. And yes, Mike will stop referring to himself in the third person.
I will be filing a formal dispute with my bank. I will then post the company’s refusal to deny me on all of Prestige’s machines in the break room. Furthermore, I will be filing a complaint with the Better Business Bureau. This isn’t about the money. It’s chump change, less than $5.00. This isn’t about that. It’s about doing the right thing, and Prestige has failed to do so.
Speaking of the BBB, numerous people have filled complaints through the organization and all of them involve the same sort of issue that I have. Prestige, it seems, refused to make things right. Only when the BBB contacted them did they suddenly want to do the right thing. That speaks volumes, doesn’t it?
I gave Prestige a chance to do the right thing. They failed and they did so, in my opinion, with malice. They stole money from me and I will not let that go unpunished.
