The DemocRATS failed!

It’s been a crazy forty-four days, hasn’t it?  Yes, it has.  That’s how long the federal government has been shut down.  Well, tonight, that comes to an end, or at least it will come to an end shortly.  The House did what it needed to do in order to pass a bill that will re-open the government, restoring agencies and services and ensuring that things such as SNAP continue without further interruption.

Republicans, the only party that truly cares about our great nation, made it clear: the blame for all of this rests squarely upon the shoulders of the DemocRATS.  In a 220-209 vote, the House ensured that our government will be open for business as soon as tomorrow, putting people back to work and restoring services that citizens depend upon, even those that should be abolished, like SNAP.

Federal workers who are concerned about back pay need not worry: they will in fact receive back pay, making them whole after more than a month of financial worry.  Within a few days, things should start getting back to normal.

This will be welcome news for Americans who will be traveling by air to be with family during Thanksgiving weekend.  That’s because air traffic controllers will be paid again, which means those who have been calling out will finally come back to work, assuming that they won’t be fired for staying home, something that was technically illegal.

As the next few days pass, government websites will be updated and agency workers will begin working through what has to be a huge backlog.  In other words, people may return to work as soon as tomorrow, but recovery won’t be immediate.  If you have been affected by the shutdown, you’ll have to be patient and wait for the next few days for things to get back to something resembling normal.
