No, it’s not arrogant

Professor Avi Loeb has made quite the name for himself of late.  Right now, he’s best known for claiming that 3I/ATLAS is an alien spacecraft with beings on it who will destroy our planet it in December.  But back in 2021, he drew attention to himself by saying, “It would be arrogant to think we’re alone in the universe.”  Clearly, Loeb thinks ET and ALF are coming to get us.

No, it is not arrogant to assume that we’re alone.  It’s common sense.  The Bible makes it clear that God made one planet, not many.  The whole idea that there is life elsewhere is absolutely insane.  In my opinion, people who think for even a moment that alien life is possible should be locked away in an insane asylum.

Loeb is a tenured professor at the hallowed Harvard University, so it’s disappointing to see an obviously well-educated person say things that are uneducated.  If alien life existed elsewhere, ET and ALF would have visited us by now.

As for 3I/ATLAS, it is obviously a comet or otherwise naturally-occurring structure.  Besides, if aliens really are inside that thing, how would they feed themselves?  How would they dispose of their waste?  How would they survive in such a thing?

I really don’t know how to handle this situation.  I mean, it really is a matter of common sense.  Earth is the only planet that God populated.  Now, Mormonism (a religion I observed for thirty years before becoming Catholic)  teaches that there are multiple worlds.  This belief is affirmed in the endowment ceremonies that occur within their temples.

The LDS church (Mormons) teaches that there are multiple Gods, all of whom were mortal men who were elevated to Gods over their own planets.  The church still teaches that worthy men will one day inherit their own planets.  To be clear, Mormons observe one God, whom they call Heavenly Father.

So, according to them, we have one Heavenly Father, but they also teach that each world out there has its own Heavenly Father.  Obviously, that whole line of teaching is pure rubbish and it’s something that I never really believed.

Simply put, the notion of multiple worlds and Gods is silly.  Not arrogant.  Silly.  There is no evidence that supports any of that.

In the interests of being fair, I reached out to Loeb via e-mail seeking a comment or two.  He responded within five minutes and pointed me to his archive of posts.  I sat here and read through a few of his articles, but my opinion remains unchanged.  He’s clearly educated as he’s a respected professor.

But as I asked in my previous article, what rational adult believes this stuff?  Apparently, you can be well-educated but irrational.  To show you just how irrational Loeb is, he asked Kim Kardashian to join his research team.  Clearly, his bar is low.

Given that Loeb would invite Kardashian to get involved with his little campaign, I’m done with giving the guy pixels on my website.  And I’m done with 3I/ATLAS given that it is absolutely nothing but a comet.  Of course, if aliens invade us, I’ll try my best to post a follow-up.
