It’s a travesty of justice!

Just moments ago, it emerged that a jury found Sean Grayson, a former sheriff’s deputy in Illinois, guilty of second-degree murder.  This after he shot Sonya Massey just over a year ago.  Grayson and his partner responded to a domestic violence call and Massey appears to have attempted to step forward and harm the deputies.  Given that Massey was black, I believe it.

Prosecutors seem to have been overcome by emotion, because they charged Grayson for defending both himself and his partner.  And what did Grayson get in return for his heroic actions?  Convicted!  Prison time!  That should be enough to make a reasonable person sick.  In addition to the murder charge, he was convicted of aggravated battery with a firearm and official misconduct.

Massey made some threatening gestures and advanced on the deputies with a pot full of scalding hot water, something that could have harmed the deputies, giving Grayson the justification to shoot her.  The jury got it wrong and now an innocent man has had his life ruined, and just for doing his job!

Now, I admit it: if I were on the jury, or any jury for that matter, as soon as I saw that the supposed victim (almost always the aggressor) was black, I would find the defendant not guilty regardless of the charges or actual situation.  I never have a problem when a White cop shoots a black person.  Never.  But that’s just me.

As for Massey, she fucked around and found out and a heroic cop will pay the price for that.  Welcome to the new America, I guess.
