Can Trump make history?

President Donald Trump is the finest president that our nation has ever seen, and yes, I have looked into the presidents of the past.  We’ve had awesome presidents, like Ronald Reagan, and we’ve had awful presidents, like Sleepy Joe Biden.  Most of my readers have only known a life where a president can serve only two terms total in his life.  But can Trump make history?

Trump has the potential to serve three terms, something that hasn’t been done since the 22nd Amendment was ratified, preventing any president after Franklin D. Roosevelt from serving more than those two terms.  Including and prior to him, a president could serve as many terms that he won.

Almost since he took office for his current term, Trump joked about serving a third term.  We all laughed, even those who, like me, support him and his presidency.  Well, the laughter is dying down, folks, and the country is taking notice: history might just be made, whether people like it or not.

Yes, I am well aware of the 22nd Amendment, which has two sections.  I will quote the relevant parts.  Bolding is my emphasis:

Section 1:

“No person shall be elected to the office of the President more than twice, and no person who has held the office of President, or acted as President, for more than two years of a term to which some other person was elected President shall be elected to the office of the President more than once.”

Looking at it in black and white, it seems so simple.  No person shall be elected twice for the office of president.  Three words might just make a big difference: “shall be elected.”  It’s been said that every rule, regulation or law has a loophole and the 22nd Amendment might just have a loophole so large that one would wonder how people missed it given that it’s been hiding in plain sight.

Trump can absolutely not become president after his current term by way of election.  But what if he pulls off a move so slick that the whole world will take notice?  It’s really simple!

  • Vice President Vance runs as president in 2028.
  • Vance puts Trump on his ticket.
  • Vance receives the Republican Party nomination.
  • Vance and Trump win the election.
  • Vance takes the oath at 12:00 p.m. on January 20, 2029.
  • At 12:01 pm, Vance hands over a letter that has already been prepared.  He resigns as our 48th president and Trump steps forward to take the oath in accordance with our continuity of government procedures.
  • Trump becomes our 50th president.  He then nominates Vance to be his vice president.
  • Our nation then continues to become great again, something that a DemocRAT won’t be able to do.

It’s so simple that anyone can see it.  Unfortunately, it will not be that easy.  Assume for a moment that all of the above happens, and yes, I realize how unlikely and how crazy it appears.  Suppose Vance and Trump take the win in November 2028.  Immediately, people will be banging on the Supreme Court’s doors, demanding intervention.

The Supreme Court would absolutely have to take the case on, and render a decision immediately as whomever becomes president has to have time to transition into office.  What would they decide?  They would have to look at the 22nd Amendment and weigh the letter of the law against the spirit of the law.  They will have to interpret what was meant when the amendment was authored.  They will have the final say.

Over the past few days, mainstream media outlets, TikTok users and bloggers have been addressing the issue.  For his part, Trump has not ruled out the possibility of an attempt at a third term.  On the other hand, he will not, as the BBC reported, use the vice president “loophole.”

See? I’m not the only one who is aware that there is in fact a loophole. All of the people who are saying it’s an unconstitutional move aren’t familiar with the concept of loopholes.  What good is a loophole if people don’t exploit it?  I say that we need to do whatever it takes to get Trump in for a third term.

And yes, I am aware that I am citing an article written by a British media outlet even though it was the British who literally burned our fledgling country to the ground.  We can never forgive nor can we ever forget!  But that’s for another time.

But if Trump doesn’t avail himself of the amendment, then just how in the hell does he propose to make that third term happen?  That loophole is an almost guaranteed win that even the Supreme Court would likely grant.  Trump isn’t saying how he intends to make it happen, so I will be very interested in hearing what he has planned.

CNN calls the potential move “blatantly unconstitutional.”  But is it really?  It all comes down to that loophole, whether Trump wants to take advantage of it or not.

Many of the media outlets are saying that the move would be unconstitutional while at the same time admitting that a president cannot be elected more than twice.  They’re either missing or blatantly ignoring that pesky “e” word.

The coming weeks and months will be interesting.  If Trump is going to try to pull this off, he’ll need to declare in early 2026 in order to get the ball rolling.  So he needs to make a decision sooner rather than later.  He’s probably already made the decision and his lawyers are probably already getting a game plan going so that they can make this thing a reality.

If things start to look as if Trump is serious about a third term, then that will bode well for our country, whether certain people want to admit it or not.  I am not a constitutional lawyer.  I am not a Supreme Court justice.  I’m just some average guy who’s hoping that Trump’s team can make this happen.

Trump has been hitting it out of the park ever since he took over for a second term, a term which will hopefully not be his last.  Both he and the Republicans as a whole want this government shutdown to end.  He wants what’s best for our country.  It’s the DemocRATS who will be taking food out of the mouths of children on the first.  Let’s not forget that.  As far as that goes, I really don’t care.  I find the whole SNAP crisis thing amusing, but the fact remains that if people do go hungry, never blame Trump.

Trump wants this to end.  His attempts to keep people fed will not go unnoticed when Americans go to the polls in a few years.  His attempts are why we need him for as long as he is physically and mentally capable.  People will remember the DemocRATS too.  And those memories won’t be fond.  This third term notion needs to become reality.
