Our country has a long history of interjecting itself into situations that don’t really concern it. We did it following September 11, 2001, for example. Only 3,000 died. We could have simply shrugged it off.
Instead of doing the right thing, we decided to go on a campaign of petty revenge. It was a local incident, not a nationwide one. It did not and does not qualify as a national incident, so we shouldn’t have retaliated. Let’s see, what else?
We defended Kuwait. We’ve done a lot of things for other countries that have yet to pay us back, and this latest move disgusts me beyond words.
As of yesterday, our country is evacuating American citizens from bully nation Israel when in reality, we should be minding our own business. Why reward them for stupidity?
Over the past couple of days, because we seemingly can’t stop being other countries’ guardian angel, stealth bombers were moved into position, almost certainly ready to attack a nation that doesn’t deserve it. If we’re going to attack any nation, it should be Israel. No one seems to get it: Israel is the bully and Iran is the innocent country.
I feel no sympathy for our countrymen who are still stuck in Israel. They bet on the wrong horse, didn’t they? Yes, they did. They brought this upon themselves. Those who were able to be successfully evacuated damn well better be kneeling down and kissing US soil.
Those who are stuck and are unable to get out pretty much deserve what they’re about to get. They chose to go to Israel, a known bully. They should have seen the writing on the wall weeks ago. Maybe they saw it but went into denial mode and did nothing to remove themselves from the self-inflicted suffering.
President Donald Trump, our finest president, had, up until yesterday, given Iran two weeks to dismantle its nuclear program. He obviously chose to go another, more immediate route yesterday.
Instead of harassing them, how about we see how Iran and the USA can work together? Is anyone thinking about that? No, they aren’t.
The way I saw it yesterday, before the American strikes on several of Iran’s nuclear assets, was is that Trump’s two-week gift would fall to pieces in the coming hours and days.
Until last night’s events, I knew that we will be forced to take action any day, any hour now. This is one time when I wish I was wrong. I take no joy in being proven right in this case.
Acting on Trump’s orders, a few hours ago, our military took it upon themselves to start bombing several of Iran’s nuclear sites. This is a huge problem because Iran has allies. Powerful allies. We just put a target on the backs of our military personnel. They will die for nothing. Their lives apparently don’t mean anything to the higher ups.
Russia, China and North Korea are definitely powerful and now we have given them no choice: the leaders of each of those nations must now avenge Iran by any means necessary and they may just launch nuclear weapons.
What should startle anyone is that last night, at around 10:00 p.m. EST, Trump addressed the nation, but not from the traditional Oval Office.
Such a late address is rare.
The last time that happened, then President Barack Obama addressed the nation, though also not from the Oval Office, to happily announce that our nation murdered a man who was no direct threat when he was cornered in his bedroom and blown away, and all over a few minor incidents in 2001.
Prior to that, former president G.W. addressed the nation from his desk before Obama during prime time in the immediate aftermath on the localized attacks on a few minor targets on our soil. The point is that whenever a president addresses the nation as late as Obama and Trump did, it’s never good news.
Trump called the unjustified attacks successful. But he was wrong about one thing: he called Iran the enemy, when we all know that the true bully is Israel.
Our president praised our military, especially those patriots who flew the planes that delivered the damage Iran experienced yesterday. He then paused to thank God, showing that our nation is a Christian nation. He made the claim that no other military in the world could have done what we did and he’s right.
Before the address, the Trump administration praised the Air Force pilots who used B-2 Spirit aircraft that is, as CNN reported, “top of the line.” We care enough to bomb the very best, apparently.
Make no mistake about it: we were wrong to do what has been done, but he is right about our military. Too bad we used our military for evil purposes with no justification.
Again, even given this awful move, I still have a huge amount of respect for Trump and I am proud to have voted for him. But this? He just killed numerous members of our military. I don’t care about the American citizens’ lives because they pretty much begged for it. But we don’t want to send our soldiers home in flag-draped coffins.
Unfortunately, over the next few days and weeks, events will occur and our men and women in uniform will be called upon to possibly make the greatest sacrifice possible and all over nothing. Sadly, that’s the risk you take when you join the military. In 1999, I was briefly in the Army. I was well aware that I was handing Uncle Sam a blank check.
Like all others before me and after me, I was ready to pay that price. However, I lied to get into the military. I was not honest about a disqualifying heart condition and I almost died because of it before I could even go downrange. I was sent packing, and not because of my wishes.
But those men and women who did make it through might not see American soil ever again and all over Iran, a nation that poses no true threat to anyone unless it’s provoked.
A fine president he, but I hope he didn’t sleep at all last night over this blunder.
White House officials, speaking on the condition of anonymity before Trump’s address, that our president is not, as of yesterday, planning more attacks. But Trump opened a can of worms and what we did as a nation last night will absolutely come back to haunt us.
Trump apparently thinks that this will force diplomatic talks, but I don’t think he bargained on one thing: Iran will not take this lightly. Nor will their allies. There will be retribution. People will die. It will not be pleasant and someone, likely Russia will begin the nuclear warfare game. I predict that we will end it, but not before millions, perhaps billions, of lives will be lost.
Indeed, that payback will be unleashed upon us very soon. Maybe not today, but almost certainly within the next few days. Believe me, neither Russia nor China will absolutely not let this act of aggression go unpunished. As Iran’s most powerful allies, they are forces to be reckoned with.
Trump may have had what he felt were good intentions, but he awoke sleeping giants, giants with a large number of ICBM’s already pointed at us. Whomever counseled Trump should be fired and put in prison.
Because of his administration’s advice, unfortunately I have to say that Trump just basically killed thousands of members of our military. Past presidents have devalued military lives in the name of petty revenge. Bush sent our men and women overseas.
Look how many came back in flag-draped coffins. Obama allowed the slaughter to continue. And all over a couple buildings fell down and went boom.
This time around, this being his second and possibly final term (perhaps through a loophole in the 22nd Amendment), Trump has seemingly told the world that he’d rather see our nation’s bravest dead as opposed to simply getting up and walking away.
The deaths of our military personnel will be tragic and they will die over something that doesn’t really concern us. Again, I can’t feel sorry for those countrymen who hitched themselves to Israel’s wagon of terrorism. They are the ones who should die in this conflict, not the men and women of our military.
I am very well aware that the world wants Iran to go without nuclear weaponry. But I don’t see the USA attacking Russia. I don’t see us bombing China. Why are we, as a nation, singling Iran out? Why can’t we just live and let live? Why did we have to go and launch an attack yesterday?
Given the events of last night, one can only imagine what will happen today. I believe that nuclear warfare will come into play today and it’s something that could have been prevented had we simply minded our own business.
There’s no reason for innocent members of our military to die needlessly like they did in Afghanistan and Vietnam, for example. They didn’t fight for a good cause. Our military never has. We should not have become involved in either of the previous world wars.
The Korean War? Pointless.
The previous two world wars? We had no business jumping in. Yes, yes, Japan sucker-punched us at Pearl Harbor. Still, we could have done the Christlike thing, turned the other cheek and moved on. What did we do? We basically sent our troops to certain deaths.
Vietnam? So many men came home deceased because our president decided to devalue American lives.
We had enough wars of our own and against our own and we should not have put them in harm’s way in any war that we’ve ever stepped into.
In fact, war is violent and awful. There’s no reason for us to have gotten involved in any conflict, really. Well, except for a couple. I understand that the Revolutionary War and The War of 1812 were needed in order to truly take control of our own new nation. We had to take action against the British. If we hadn’t, we’d have ridiculous accents and horrendous teeth. And might I add, we kicked the British people’s ass.
The Civil War shouldn’t have happened. We should have resolved our differences peacefully.
The members of our military, especially those who are actually in harm’s way, are to be admired, of course, but those who die as a third world war becomes a reality will die over something very stupid. They were merely pawns in presidents’ arsenals and that should be enough to disgust anyone.
Thus far, Iran has done nothing but prepare a self defense program. That does not justify what Israel is doing right now. That does not justify the little stunt we pulled yesterday.
I’ve been saying this for months now: tensions are high and escalations are rising more and more with every passing hour, and yesterday’s bombing will accelerate things by the minute. This situation is that fluid!
Bombings yesterday. Seriously? We deserve any retaliation that we may get, because we had no business getting involved.
What will happen today?
We have nothing left to do but sit back and watch. Here’s a scenario that I see on the immediate horizon:
- We will attack Iran with no justification. Wait a minute…that’s already happened! We had no business attacking Iran. We should be assisting them and we should definitely be punishing Israel. Bomb their assets instead of Iran’s! We just let Israel drag us into a war, the likes of which has never before been seen.
- Russia, China and North Korea, all nuclear nations to some degree or another, will first attack us overseas as retaliation for yesterday’s stunts. That’s how this will begin. I’ve been saying this for ages now. Or maybe it has already started and our media has been ordered to not report on the matter.
- Things will escalate to the highest levels, the likes of which have never been seen before.
- Something will happen and one or all of those nations will fire off its nukes, nukes headed to many different targets across our country. Yes, that’s how I think World War III will truly begin.
- At some point, NATO’s Article V will be invoked.
- We will find our nation brought to its knees, and all because we chose to defend a bully.
If I could have had five minutes with Trump before his authorization to set aside his allowance of two weeks, as a fellow Republican, I would have urged him to not poke the bears. We cannot afford to have Russia or China attack us either over there or right here.
Trump is many things, but he is not dumb. He knows the hefty price our nation will pay now that he’s given permission for our military to attack a harmless country.
Russia is a threat to us. China is less of a threat, but still dangerous. North Korea is like a lamb: not a threat at all. I would strongly encourage Trump to immediately abandon all efforts to defend Israel and let it and Iran do what they will do.
At this point, we are powerless to stop Trump and our military. Because of our senseless and unprovoked move, sooner, rather than later, the nuclear football will be activated and Trump will likely have to give the order to nuke Russia. This is one time where I want to be wrong.
I still consider Trump to be the best president that our nation has ever seen, but I think that, on this specific occasion, he is on the wrong side of history.
Here’s hoping that someone pulls a rabbit out of a hat and puts a stop to all of this. But the reality, gentle reader, is that we’re about to find out exactly how long a third world war would take before much (but not all) of the world is destroyed.
Trump has made our country’s position clear. We are now a violent nation who attacked a harmless nation. The United States is now that bully in high school who goes after new, harmless freshmen. Iran is that freshman.
To the administration’s credit, they allegedly informed Iran that their attacks were meticulously planned and that, unless Iran retaliates (and they will), there will be no further action on American’s part. Oh, and apparently, a condition of us standing down is Iran engaging in good-faith discussions with Israel.
What a way to bring about peace: commit an act of violence, something that we just did. Oh, the irony is so ironic!
What’s really sad about this whole situation is that this whole Israel-Iran thing? Yeah, it was never our fight. That is, of course, until Trump gave the green light for this unwarranted and unprovoked act of war.
Yes, we just declared war and, very soon, Trump might be rushing to Congress to get their approval to make the war official.
Now there’s naught to do but see what happens next.
