At almost every turn, I am seeing news articles about the LGBT-whatever flag being displayed at Catholic parishes. Every time I see that, I want to vomit. That sickening thing represents everything that the Church is against.
Their flag is making a powerful statement, a statement that has no place within any property the Church may own. So, then, it’s a good thing indeed to see people tearing flags down. While I absolutely agree with their actions, I do need state the obvious: doing such things, satisfying though it may be, is absolutely illegal.
Is it really worth it to be sent to prison on a hate crime? While I don’t think tearing down a flag, even if on private property, rises to the level of a hate crime, I do understand why these brave people are brought up on harassment charges.
Look, those people aren’t worth it. These people who prance around in their rainbow outfits and who defy the gender assigned to them by God aren’t worth criminal charges. However, there’s nothing wrong with picketing on public sidewalks. As long as you do so peacefully and without harassing the poor little cupcakes, you should be good to go.
If you feel brave enough to tear down a flag (never burn one as that could bring arson charges), then be brave enough to make up signs and stand in front of churches, always avoiding their private property. As Catholics, we do need to stand for what’s right and that is one of many ways to do it.
As for me, if I ever see that awful flag at my parish, I will tear it down and relocate it to where it belongs: the trash. I will light nothing on fire, nor will I make a scene. Thankfully, the priests have, thus far, steered clear of that controversy, so I may never have to worry about it.
Look, if those people want to mock God, then let them lead a life of sin. Let them validate perversion. Let them be disgusting. God will deal with them on His own timetable, not ours.
The parish where this happened is at the All Saints parish in Syracuse, in the university’s neighborhood. Their website seems to be inviting sin by screaming about their support for these horrendous people. Such perversion does not warrant any space in any Catholic parish. Their website, though well-designed, is oozing with filth because of their ways.
This evening, I took it upon myself to email the priest in charge of the parish:
Hello:
I ran across a Post-Standard story about your parish’s support for LGBT people. You even went so far as to allow their flag onto parish property. I am a Catholic up here in Albany and I almost vomited when I read your defense of these people.
You are a Catholic priest, for crying out loud. You, more than anyone, should know that validating sin is in itself a mortal sin. I would respectfully say that you are not in a state of grace and that you should immediately step down from your position. Also, you should be excommunicated immediately.
The LGBT flag is perverted and disgusting. Now, it’s one thing to quietly invite those “people” to Mass, but you are screaming at the top of your lungs that your parish is a-okay with mortal sins. This is NOT okay. If I were a member of your parish, I would have ripped the flag down myself and then I would have thrown it in the nearest trash can. I would then transfer to another parish until you found yourself removed from your position.
NO Catholic Church should ever stand for this filth. There is no excuse for this and I hope that you suffer the harshest punishment possible. You, and anyone who agrees with you, are disgusting to me. Maybe it’s you who needs to go to Confession.
No Catholic Church should ever allow that flag onto their property. If they do, they are condoning evil and that, gentle readers, is a mortal sin. Come to think of it, no church should ever invite a sin of this magnitude nor the people who insist upon living the lifestyle without a true desire to cease said conduct and truly repent, committing their sins no more.
Standing up for those people is enabling their sin, which makes one who is not in a state of grace. The priest who allowed that flag to fly in Syracuse should be defrocked and excommunicated. To do less is to send a message that the Catholic Church condones sexual sinners.
Yes, stand tall for God and His teachings, but don’t let those people win. When a protester gets arrested and prosecuted, they’re letting these so-called churches win. Just do things properly, peacefully and a smile. Don’t let them win.
