Over the weekend, I discussed the Conclave that began today. I pointed out that a new pope would not be chosen today and, surprise, surprise, I am right. At 9:00 p.m., black smoke emerged from the Sistine Chapel, meaning that we don’t have a pope.
So when will a pope be chosen? Tomorrow and Friday, there will be up to four votes on each day until a pope is chosen. At that point, of course, white smoke will emerge and bells will toll the glad news. So who might be the pope? There are many cardinals that have a shot, but my vote, if I had one, would go to Cardinal Tagle.
Of course, it’s anyone’s guess and anything can happen. There’s a chance that there will be no pope by the time the weekend rolls around. It could even extend into next week! Realistically, however, we will likely have a pope tomorrow. That’s where my money would go if I were a betting man.
For the good of the Church, Cardinal Tagle must be voted in. He has the best interests of the Church at heart and he will hit the ground running. Hopefully, he will stand tall and make it known that the Church will not tolerate homosexuality and transgenderism. There can be no room in the Church for those sick freaks.
It’s anyone’s game at this point, and all the world can do is sit back and wait. The first vote will come down at around 4:30 a.m. tomorrow. If no pope is chosen, then there will be three more votes throughout the day. Every media outlet in the world, it seems, has its cameras trained on that all-important chimney. This is that important.
Right now, the only news story that matters is that of the Catholic Church and its next pope. Nothing else matters until such time as our new pope greets the world.
