This week’s pick is a little unique in that the video was done entirely in front of a green screen using animation that is, quite frankly, low budget. Even so, it’s a great music video for a mostly instrumental Dutch song. Yes, this week, it’s Klompendans, by Dutch accordion artist Johnny Verweij.
Literally translated, it means “clog dance.” Clog dancing is a huge part of Dutch culture. And not for nothing, but I am Dutch, with my ancestry goes back to at least 1452, when the first Abraham Vogel popped up. For a long time, it was Abraham after Abraham.
The song and video go back to 2021. As I said, the video is a very basic one. They could have gone in a different direction. Even so, it’s still good enough to become one of my picks of the week.
