I’m angrier than a Coca-Cola addict having no option but Pepsi because this next video isn’t more popular than it should be. This week we’ll see a music video of a classic, beautiful song known the world over. If this song doesn’t touch your heart in some fashion, then I feel sorry for you.
Even though it’s only June, this week’s choice is Christmas Canon, based off of Johann Pachelbel’s Canon in D Minor. It’s known the world over for being played at weddings and in many other venues. The song’s exact date is unknown, but it’s thought to have been written between 1680 and 1706.
The Trans-Siberian Orchestra took a different take on the song that has the power to bring anyone to tears because of its sheer beauty. Christmas Canon was released in 1998 on the album Christmas Attic.
The video features a choir of young children singing in front of two people who I don’t know who the hell they are. The only word I can come up with to describe their singing is angelic.
The camera work is nothing short of awesome and it really does the song justice.
I don’t think listening to this song or watching this video should be limited to the Christmas song. This is an awesome rendition of a classic song that most any human being on the planet has at least heard. As an American Sign Language interpreter, I would love to interpret this song at a TSO concert someday. Of course, that opportunity will never come along, but it’s nice to dream, isn’t it?
I definitely recommend this video and song to be listened to any day of the year. Enjoy.
