Here is yet another story for the “Stupid! You’re so stupid!” files. If you want to read other such stories, go to the stupid page already! Now, on to today’s stupidity. Maria Eduarda Rodrigues de Freitas, 21, a teacher from Brazil, is dead and it’s all because of her stupidity. She was with other people doing what I can only describe as bungee jumping. She asked to be launched “airplane style,” and she got her wish as three people carried her over their shoulders and launched her over the edge.
But there’s a funny thing when it comes to bungee jumping: the jumper is usually attached to something. She was not and she fell to her death. Well, she didn’t die suddenly and was reportedly still breathing when people got to her. I’m willing to bet that she had a little bit to reflect on her poor life choice.
She asked for danger and she certainly got her wish. Now, there are legal consequences for the people who allegedly tossed her over the edge, despite her not being attached to anything. It’s my guess that they knew exactly what they were doing. Accordingly, they are facing murder charges.
She had a GoPro camera attached to her, but wouldn’t you know….it’s conveniently “disappeared.” That footage would show her launch and her going splat. She was already stupid for doing this kind of thing in the first place, but she’s certainly stupid for not checking to ensure that she was properly attached.
It will be interesting to see what comes of this for the people accused of the crime, but the reality is that she brought this upon herself with her own unique brand of stupidity.
