I’m angrier than a fan of disco music that this week’s pick wasn’t more popular than it should have been. This week’s pick is a disco version of a very popular song from the 1960’s. The pick goes back all the way to 1982. The song is a wonderful, modern (even for today) song with a simple music video.
The video is so simple that it looks like the music video that I made as my senior year’s final exam in Media III class way back in 1997. The video features Sour Souire (Sister Smile), a singing nun. She wasn’t a nun that the time that this newer version came out, and I’d love to know the story behind the disco version.
The video, as you can tell, was not performed in English, but in French, France being the place where she, Jeannine Deckers, came from.
This is a nice, catchy little song, and if you want to look up the English lyrics, you can find them easily. The music video is, for its time, creative and simple. I’m guessing that it was shot in one day. Even so, it’s still creative and that’s why it’s this week’s pick.
