I have a lot of goals that I intend to accomplish as mayor. Perhaps some of them will be controversial, but they need to be done.
For example, I will work with the right people try to, by way of ballot, decrease the school tax by 5%. Also, I will evaluate the city’s school district as a whole, from top to bottom.
I will attempt to make adjustments and other sweeping changes when and where appropriate, with the singular goal being bettering the education of our city’s K-12 students, while at the same time reducing the tax burden on already financially-strapped residents. That may mean parting ways with some useless people, but to make an omelette one must break some eggs.
One of many things that I want to address is the matter of free or reduced-price lunches. Somehow, one way or another, those things need to be eliminated, at least to any level that the city’s monies are involved.
I can’t do a thing about state or federal aid, but if city funds are used in any way, I will be the one to end that irresponsible practice.
As a city as a whole and as taxpayers, we must not be forced to subsidize parental laziness or arrogance.
There are many ways to cut the money that goes to the school district, and I want to help lower your property taxes by making those ways happen.
