A lofty goal, yes, but…

When I take office as Albany’s 76th mayor on January 1, 2026, I will, per my list of 2026 goals, immediately make an impact on Albany’s citizens by reducing taxes.  By doing so, Albany will become more attractive to potential new residents and businesses, a move that will only improve things for everyone.

Now, the tax decreases won’t happen immediately, but they will happen, and those changes will make your wallet heavier than it ever has been.  So how, in part, do I intend to do that?

  • Property taxes for residents will decrease by 8%.
  • Property taxes for businesses and landlords will decrease by 6%.
  • School taxes will decrease by 7% and  appropriate adjustments will be made within our school district.
  • Any local taxes that Albany now or in the future may impose on goods and services will be reduced by 2%.

These are indeed lofty goals, but as your mayor, I will lead you into a better, brighter Albany.

Those other guys want to drag Albany into the sewer even more than it already is because they don’t care about you.

The reason why taxes are so high in Albany is because those in power in city government couldn’t care less about you and the negative impact that high taxes have on your day-to-day life.  I plan to change that.

I will dismiss anyone and everyone who had a hand in making your taxes so unreasonable.  I’ll go so far as to dismiss those who typed up the documents that increased your taxes.

As an Albany citizen myself, I know the impact of the various taxes that Albany imposes on those who can afford those taxes the least.  Yes, Albany needs multiple revenue streams, but those streams don’t need to be as high as they are today.

Let good ol’ Michael Crook become mayor and watch what happens.  Only good things are in store.  Those other folks?  Things will only get worse.

Think about it.
