A couple of months ago, I wrote two articles wherein I discussed my affinity for AI tracks that covered 2 Unlimited singles. At the time, I wrote that the AI did 2 Unlimited better than 2 Unlimited did 2 Unlimited. This was significant for me because of the fact that I founded and ran 2 Unlimited’s US fan club from 1993 until the departure of the original performers in 1996. High school me would likely have kicked current me’s ass for writing such things.
It seems as if there is an emergence of AI tracks that put out covers of EDM tracks. Today, I ran across a song by AI act She’s All Music! Honky Tonk is an energetic, original and, quite frankly, awesome track. You really should listen to it. The song has a definite Irish techno influence, but also incorporates yodeling and, true to its name, honky-tonk music.
I love the track so much that I’ve already made it a custom ringtone and I’ve added it to my music collection both on my phone and my computer. It’s not often that I like a song so much that I make it a triple threat. And yet, here we are.
There’s a lot of humor in this song and rather than post the lyrics, I think it’d be better that you listen to it and discover the lyrics yourself. I will say that this song would be a banger anywhere you played it and even those who may not much care for EDM might find it enjoyable.
AI is becoming, and actually already is, the next big thing. There are things that you can do with AI to construct a song with vocal and musical precision that simply wasn’t available in the 90’s and even today. Even two of the best techno producers in the world, those who built 2 Unlimited in that era, can’t possibly match AI.
Every AI track I’ve heard is awesome and I intend to share with you the very best of the best that I can find. And as for 2 Unlimited? Sorry, JP, Phil, Ray and Anita, but you just got your asses beat. Get ready, ready, ready for that!
