Grab the popcorn!

I have been writing about the situation in Iran ever since it started.  This war, if you want to call it that, is not necessary and should be stopped.  That will not be the case.  There’s nothing we can do but grab some popcorn and a can or two of Coke.  Classic, not Cherry.  But that’s another story.

President Trump has made a very scary statement and only time will tell whether or not he’ll actually follow through what is less a threat and more a promise.  If Iran does not agree to a peace plan by this evening, “a whole civilization will die tonight.”  His words, not mine, not the media’s.  His words.

“A whole civilization will die tonight, never to be brought back again. I don’t want that ‌to happen, but it probably will,” Trump wrote in a post on Truth Social, a somewhat popular social media platform.  These words are frightening coming from a president who is arguably the most powerful world leader on the planet.

“We will find out tonight, one of the most important moments in the long and complex history of the [w]orld.”  If Trump is prepared to follow through and actually does attack Iran, things will almost certainly wind up causing the beginning of World War III.  Yes, I’ve been saying that for months, but if rhetoric does become reality, then we’re about to be in for a world of hurt, and for no good reason.

Trump does mean business: he is threatening to attack civilians and civilian structures, almost certainly enraging countries such as Russia and China into taking action.  Remember, Russia’s nuclear arsenal is mightier than ours and if they try to get revenge by attacking our homeland, we will be forced to fight back.  Our NATO allies will hopefully honor Article V and there’s your third world war, folks.

The next hours will be telling.  Trump has set a deadline of 8:00 tonight, New York time.  Is Trump just blowing smoke or is he prepared to follow through and potentially end existence as we know it?
