There will be hell to pay

I have been writing about the war in Iran pretty much since it started.  When President Trump authorized strikes against the nation, things got serious.  Well, now things have become even more serious.  It had to happen sooner or later: Iran brought down one of our helicopters and Iranian media outlets are encouraging citizens to capture Americans.  At least one member of our military is missing in action.

We all know what’s going to happen next.  Iran has just declared war on us and it’s only going to go downhill from here.  Our military will want revenge and when that happens, many will die, including American military personnel.  Trump knew this going in and he still went ahead.  Well, now innocent blood will be shed because he wants to prove some kind of point.

Iranians are being told that there is a bounty on the heads on any Americans that they may capture.  This means that they have a great incentive to cause harm to American property and life.  This will not end well.  Trump could have pulled back, but he did not.  Because of that, things are going to go from bad to worse and it’s all because Trump, otherwise a fine president, wants to flex his muscles.

It’s only a matter of time before ground troops are ordered in and that’s when the real loss of life will begin.  Numerous American soldiers will be coming home for a dignified transfer and that is absolutely not a good thing.  One has to wonder just how Trump is able to sleep at night.  He can do something to stop this: he can pull us out of Iran and call it a day.

Only time will tell how bad this will get, but we have to be prepared for the possibility that things will escalate to the point that other countries will slowly become involved and we all know what comes next: World War III.
