I have a bold plan for dealing with the homelessness problem in Albany. It’s a quality of life issue as well as a matter of public safety and then there’s the eyesore factor.
On Day One, I will announce and immediately implement that plan, a plan that will have minimal impact on taxpayer monies. This is an issue that needs to be handled immediately, but it also needs to be handled with compassion and basic human dignity for the homeless and the public as well. Look, the eyesore issue takes priority over all else, for the good of the city itself and those of us who occupy it.
We must remember to make Albany presentable to residents, workers and prospective businesses and residents. Unfortunately, the homelessness issue is not a good look for Albany. That can be fixed and fixed with a snap. I can be the one to implement that fix.
This will be a touchy situation, but I will handle it with tact and as much compassion as is practical. I look forward to announcing the details of my plan on Day One, with the goal being for the good of the city and the image of the same.
Homeless people don’t contribute to making that image presentable. It’s time to address and eliminate the problem once and for all. Put me in and I’ll be the one to succeed where others have failed.
