The war in Iran and, for that matter, in the entire Middle East, started off small. Every day, it seems that the situation is escalating and it’s likely that things will deteriorate to the point that a third world war might start. Then again, some are saying that World War III has already started, but that’s a whole other article.
I still consider President Trump to be one of two of our nation’s best presidents, the other being Reagan. However, a recent comment has me concerned. By now, we’re all aware that our military bombed Kharg Island today. In a telephone interview with NBC News, Trump said that he may order another attack “just for fun.”
Hopefully, he was joking, but even then that’s a scary comment. War is absolutely not “fun,” especially when it’s a war that doesn’t need to be fought in the first place. Of course, almost every war we’ve involved ourselves in never needed to be fought, at least by us. So when a sitting president says that he wants to destroy things “just for fun,” it should give us all pause.
Make no mistake: I hate Iran and I hate people from that country. I am not sympathetic towards Iran for all of the ways it and its people are suffering right now, but even so, we should not be bombing them for fun. The problem here is that the more Trump involves us, the greater the chance of escalating towards that long-predicted third world war.
There’s nothing we can do to stop this. All we can do is sit back and prepare for the worst. And there’s nothing fun about that.
